Bornfight approached us with a project for Pet Pak, a plastic packaging manufacturer. Plastic packaging is built for repetition, the same form produced at scale, without deviation. The manufacturing process has its own visual logic: automated, exact, almost hypnotic. We were drawn to that precision as much as we were drawn to resisting it. The still images pushed against the industrial logic, treating the finished objects as sculptural forms rather than functional ones. Industrial material, looked at closely enough, becomes something familiar but new.
A video that gets inside the manufacturing process, the rhythm of it, the precision, and a series of still images that strip the products of their function and find the form underneath. The two deliverables pull in opposite directions, one following the logic of the machine, the other looking for what the machine cannot see.
